Decision in Miss D abortion case likely tomorrow.

The Irish High Court will rule tomorrow (finally, I hope) in whether or not to grant Miss D, the 17-year old Irish woman who wants to travel to England to terminated her pregnancy. Doctors say that the fetus, which has been diagnosed with anencaphaly, will likely die within three days of birth. Abortion is illegal in Ireland but thousands of women travel abroad, usually to England or Scotland, to have the medical procedure performed.

The case now hinges on whether the right of a fetus to be born trumps the right of a person to travel.
